Bigger Than Life

2300 horsepower. 66 feet long. Almost 44 feet high. 289 tons (empty). Digs, scoops and carries 80 tons of material. An oil change takes 66 GALLONS of oil and a full tank of gas contains 1050 gallons. The driver sits about 14 feet off the ground and operates a 25 foot wide loader bucket that can hold the same volume as 28 pickup trucks combined. Of course I am referring to the LeTourneau L-2350 wheel loader, the largest of its kind to ever be built. If you want to be more impressed with pictures click Here. What brings me to this collosal piece of equipment? Well, a new book I just purchased from the famed "Book Loft" called-

This book is full of the worlds largest, biggest and meanest heavy machinery. This is just my kind of book, with 283 pages chock full of color pictures, diagrams, statistics and stories. The only other thing competing for my time recently is the fact that I purchased a Digital Camera. That's right my very own Canon Powershot A700. So it is only fitting that this book is one of the first pictures I took with my new camera.
(Small break taken here because I got sidetracked momentarily by my new book and an article about mine dump trucks)
I am sure if you stay tuned you will see more exciting pictures taken with my new camera, especially this summer while I am harvesting wheat.
