Well, maybe by using more energy in his home, he can enable himself to reduce the amount of energy industry uses. After all, home energy use isn't the only energy use. Plus, he isn't the "average American", and, why should he be held to that arbitrairy standard? Why not something way more strict---since he wants to reduce greenhouse gasses?
I'd guess Mr. Gore has a few homes and that they are all a bit larger than the average American home. He also likely has hired help who live on the grounds of said homes.
With that in mind, he would likely have to sell his home(s) and move to a more average sized dwelling to be able to do this.
Is this doable? Sure. Is this a good idea? Probably, but it is a larger decision for him than the article makes it out to be.
When one has a wise word, it is not to be discredited on the grounds of the one speaking being a fraud. In fact, speaking a wise word in noway proves that one is not a fraud. Gods speaks even through very imperfect people. So, even if you, JG, have a wise word, it in no way proves that you are a man of integrity or that the word should be accepted or rejected on the basis of that evaluation. I Tim. 6:10 KJV and Phillipians 4:8 and Galatians 6:2 are good things to meditate on.
I seriously don't think its that big of a deal. Mr. Gore uses $22,000 worth of green energy each year. I would suggest to the author of this blog that perhaps your SUV contributes to Greenhouse gases more than Mr. Gore's house. Energy is not the issue, greenhouse gasses is.
I would've liked to hear Al Gore's reasons (if any) for refusing this pledge to see if he actually had any valid reasoning for coming across as a hypocrite or if he just didn't like being told what to do and really was a hypocrite. I like the engagement photos by the way. Hope to see you guys on Aug. 25! :)
